‘Ayithe OK’ Breathes His Last

Remember the famous Telugu film comedian who keeps saying ‘Ayithe OK’ on screen, making us laugh?

69-year-old Kondavalasa Lakshman Rao, a great performer who knows how to make people laugh passed away on Monday at a private hospital. The actor had been suffering with health issues since last two years.

Kondalavasa has been with theatre for a long time and made a rather late debut with films. In 2002, he was introduced into Telugu Cinema with his well reputed role of Pottiraju in the Ravi Teja starrer, Avunu Vall Idharu Ishtapaddaru. The film which was directed by Vamsy instantly catapulted Kondalavasa to fame, making him known with his famous catch phrase in the film – ‘Ayithe OK’.

Little did people know that Kondalavasa was destined to scale heights in his short span with Tollywood. He was seen in a remarkable number of Telugu films after that, making people laugh to his funny antics and characters on screen.

Kondavalasa was born in Srikakulam in the village by the same name, and has acted in about 70 Telugu movies. Prior to films, he worked at the Visakhapatnam Port Trust and took a voluntary retirement in year 2000.

Telugu audience will sorely miss him. Rest in peace.
