What Did The CM Write To Rajnath Singh About?

Curiosity rose to peaks as Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu drafted a detailed letter to Union Home Minister Sri Rajnath Singh yesterday on a vital issue surrounding the people of AP.

Appparnetly, the CM has written out to Mr Singh seeking modifications to the existing Presidential Order. This is with a mission to extend the benefit of local status to children of State Government employees and others who will move to the ‘residuary’ State of Andhra Pradesh.

The letter shows that Mr Naidu wanted changes in the Presidential Order in order to provide local status to candidates who migrate to any part of Andhra Pradesh from Telangana within three years from the date of state bifurcation.

To this effect, the CM brought Mr. Singh’s attention to Articles 371 D and 371 E that were inserted in the Constitution through 32{+n}{+d}amendment. They provide equitable opportunities to different areas in a combined State in the spheres of education and employment.

Listing complete details of the provisions in the Presidential Orders with regards to the assigning of local status for admissions to educational institutions and public employment, Mr Naidu stated that bifurcation of the State created an unexpected dimension for those who will have to now move to the residuary State of AP.

The Presidential Order mandates local status on the grounds of minimum period of study for four years or residing in a particular area. CM stated that the children of families who will shift to Andhra Pradesh during this period will not have qualification of that four-year specification as required from the date of shifting.

“To fulfill the wishes of the people, who are settled in other parts of the erstwhile State of Andhra Pradesh, and to save their equitable rights in the matters of education and public employment in residuary State of Andhra Pradesh, modification of Presidential Order is inevitable” stated the letter from the CM.
