Jyothika Sri, who hails from the city of Vijayawada and is an Intermediate student has made it to the World Youth Athletic Championship that will be held in Kenya from July 12 to July 18th. She has been selected for the 400 m event. In the past, she has taken part in the Asian Youth Athletic Championship that was held in Thailand, where she secured the fourth place.
This young athlete is being trained by DNV Vinayak Prasad, the coach of SAI at the National Sports Talent Center (NSTC) of Sports Authority of India (SAI), which is located at Siddhartha Public School.
The Indian camp for the event begins on June 10th in Soneypath, New Delhi and Jyothika Sri is all set to attend this camp. According to her coach Vinayak Prasad, she belongs to a poor family but is extremely talented with the caliber to make it big in the track and field arena. He added that they are eagerly waiting for sponsorships such that she can be prepared to take up bigger challenges. CBR Prasad, the chairman of CBR Academy has raised the monthly scholarship offered to Jyothika from INR 3000 to INR 10000. She was also presented a pair of spikes by Lalith Prasad, the convener of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala.
The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has identified Jyothika’s talent and has announced that they will offer her full support. Jyothika is extremely confident about doing well at the event in Kenya. However, her aim is to win an Olympic medal.
