Joining the momentum, e commerce giant SnapDeal has announced partnership with University of California, Berkeley to rise up and contribute towards AP government’s Smart Village project. Snapdeal will directly impact the lives of small artisans in the state with its digital initiative.
So what will Snapdeal provide? Viable solutions through digitization and new age services. Snapdeal will offer local hand loom weavers a direct market access to their buyers, first time ever, and that too across the country. For this, Snapdeal has associated itself with the handloom association of Meri Podu village.
As part of this initiative, all the products offered by the artisans will be listed on an exclusive Snapdeal landing page, where the buyers can make direct purchases from the weavers.
Snapdeal, which is currently grappling under the pressure of market competition and massive lay offs is also contemplating a possible stake sale with Flipkart.
