PSLV-C40, yet another prestigious expedition from ISRO took a successful lift off earlier today. The PSLV carries a total of 31 satellites from six countries, including India. The PSLV carries India’s 100 satellite, Cartosat 2, which is a surveillance satellite.
These satellites are planned to be launched in two orbits, making it a unique mission going by the lead scientists. PSLV C40 carries satellites from United States, France, UK. Finland, Canada and South Korea along with India. After 17 minutes of the lift off, the rocket had injected the main payload that carries 710 kg Cartosat 2 series, also the seventh satellite in the order. The rocket then ejected 29 nano satellites in a 7 minute span at an altitude of 519 km.
The mission is also a fitting tribute to the ISRO Chairman AS Kiran Kumar and a welcome gesture to the Chairman designate K Sivan.
