The city of Visakhapatnam can look forward to better health facilities what with more than 60 doctors joining hands to start a major co-op hospital. From general physicians to super specialists, all have come forth for this great initiative known as Pradhama. It is being estimated that the cost to set up this hospital amounted to INR 220 crores, which includes the cost of the land as well.
The hospital will be inaugurated by State CM, N Chandrababu Naidu. According to the MD, P Visweswara Rao, the step was taken because the doctors felt that it was essential to improve the medical facilities in the city which have taken a major hit due to the bifurcation.
He added that just because it is a co-operative hospital, people should not misjudge it. He went on to say that it will be at par with all the best hospitals in the state and would boast of superior medical care and world class equipment.
However, the fees that would be charged would be quite reasonable and would amount to just 50-60% of what is charged by the corporate hospitals. He said that the people below poverty line will be given special care and treatment will be offered to them under an insurance scheme named Arogyasri.
He added that margin money of INR 51.09 crores was contributed by the shareholders and promoters while an amount of INR 122 crores was taken as loan from various financial institutions.
Pradhama will be one of the first hospitals that offer air ambulance facility.
