Mondelez Entry into AP – Global Retail Prospects
We have grown up digging into the addictive Cadbury chocolates, and soon, we will be in the candy land. Mondelez’s entry into Andhra Pradesh opens more than one avenue of sweetness. World’s largest confectionery major is set to launch the first phase of commercial operations in the integrated business city, the Sri City, tomorrow.
This explains many things surrounding the traction that the city of Chittoor has been gathering, ever since it went all mobile manufacturing with some of the big names on the plate. However, the expanse of business prospects has now taken a new tangent – delving into one of the biggest confectionary retail deployments in the world.
The new Mondelez plant in Sri City will be billed as the largest chocolate manufacturing plant across Asia Pacific. It will also be the sixth manufacturing plants of Mondelez India in the whole of country.
Plans are on to come up with a 134 acre facility that will boast of 2.5 lakh tonne production capacity. This plant will automatically generate jobs for over 16,000 people. The production coming from the new Mondelez plant of Sri City will cater to both domestic as well as international markets, meaning more cross country operations, tie ups and other possibilities.
Mondelez Presence in Prime Indian Cities
So far, Mondelez has five factories across India – Thane, Pune, Himachal Pradesh, Gwalior and Dharampuram. The new plant at Sri City will join hands on Cocoa operations along with Dharampuram in Tamil Nadu.
