Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is set to make a difference to yet another village in the state. The Master Blaster of Indian cricket, who had earlier adopted Puttamrajuvari Kandriga village near Gudur will now be adopting Gollapalli, located just half a kilometer from the first one. Sachin announced that he will be adopting Gollapalli with a budget of Rs 3.05 crore. He said that he was particularly happy after the progress seen with Puttamrajuvari Kandriga, which now has better facilities impacting people of the village.
Sachin was particularly happy that people of the village are making a great effort to keep their little hamlet clean and hygienic.
Hundreds of men and women flocked in to see when Sachin made a visit, checking on the situation of his adopted village. He made Gopaiah and Vijayalakshmi, a village couple very happy by having a cup of tea in their house as promised during his previous visit. Sachin spent qualitative time with the family, blessing the couple’s newly wed son and daughter in law.
Speaking about the development felt in his adopted village, Tendulkar was all smiles. He has adopted Puttamrajuvari Kandriga as part of PM’s Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana in November 2014, as the Rajya Sabha MP. Sachin has laid the foundation for 15 projects that include a school playground, pucca streets, power, 24 hour drinking water, toilets and a nicely furnished community hall. The PM’s initiative aims at converting villages into smart villages.
Sachin had contributed Rs 2.80 Cr from his MP Local Area Development Scheme (LADS) Fund, while another Rs 3.20 Cr came from the Nellore District Administration. The collective efforts are to create a model village.
