AP State Govt has won the satisfaction of pilgrims on the first day of Krishna Pushkarams. This was evident with the way the event was started off and the arrangements that were witnessed for the convenience of the pilgrims.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched Krishna pushkaram by taking a holy dip along with his family members at Durga ghat near Prakasam barrage in Vijayawada on Friday Morning and received blessings from Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji. Later the CM offered prayers to cows.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the two rivers including Godavari and Krishna are life line for Andhra Pradesh. He said AP would be developed as a drought-free state with the help of two rivers. He appealed to people to offer prayers to Krishna river for the development of the state.
The CM said that the linking of Godavari to Krishna river will help to supply water to farmers of Krishna delta. The river linkng will help for the development of the state. Meanwhile the movement of crowd are seen right from the midnight of Thursday both at railway station and RTC bus stand as people reached the city to have a holy dip in Krishna river on the first day of 12-day river festival.
The state government is successful in winning the confidence of people as majority of people expressed satisfaction over the arrangements. A septuagenarian V Rama Rao who reached the city from Rajahmundry along with his family members for Krishna Pushkaram expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and sanitation in the city. He praised the government for making the arrangements in a big way.
It may be noted that Chief Minister directed the officials to increase satisfaction levels of pilgrims with fool proof arrangements. People are seen enjoying while taking a dip in the holy waters. Interestingly youth are seen in large number on the first day of the Krishna Pushkaram.
Meanwhile, the residents of Vijayawada city who are fearing traffic snarls during Krishna pushkaram heaved a sigh of relief as there was no traffic congestion and restriction on movement of vehicles on city roads.
The police declared the main roads leading to various ghats as no vehicle zone and allowed free flow of traffic in the city. A two-wheeler rider praising the traffic management, said that the police should continue the same rules until the conclusion of Krishna Pushkaram.
Andhra hospitality on the anvil: The residents of Vijayawada city and various associations already set up shamianas to distribute Andhra foods, butter milk and drinking water to the pilgrims in addition to the arrangements made by the state government for supplying free food to devotees. People expressed happy over the free and hygienic food supply at various Pushkarnagars.
Officials geared up to meet the challenge as the long week end starting from Saturdayis likely to witness surge in crowd for Krishna Pushkaram.
