“Innovation Will Encourage Entrepreneurial Thinking in Students” – CM

These were the precise words that were spoken by CM Sri N Chandrababu Naidu, who addressed a key audience after inaugurating the three day 12th FICCI Higher Education Summit–2016 ‘Learn in India–Learn for the World’
The CM stressed on the word innovation, and called out for the same to be reinforced along with startup centers across all the educational institutions in the country.

Mr Naidu highlighted that Andhra Pradesh is the the ‘only State with an innovation and start-up policy’.
12th FICCI Higher Education Summit–2016 that will be held from November 10th to 12th in New Delhi will have key representation by the important delegates from both India and EU. Several education ministers from countries like Botswana, Kyrgystan and Taiwan will be taking part in this summit which has close to 55 countries attending the event.

Over 1,000 national and international delegates including Indian and foreign university Presidents, Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors and Deans will be attending it.

The Chief Minister of several states discussed and spoke about the need for key reforms in the education sector, both in terms of spirit and practicality of the imparted knowledge.

Speaking at length, Mr Naidu told the delegates that AP had facilitated collaboration between the Andhra University and the University of California, Berkeley, to set up the Centre for open innovation at the former.

The CM specified that all State universities are ‘smart campuses’ and five institutes of national importance — IIM (Visakhapatnam), IIT (Tirupati), IIIT Kurnool, NIT (Tadepalligudem, West Godavari) and IISER (Tirupati) — and have been established since the birth of the State in June 2014.

Mr Naidu also said that 12 additional national institutes were in the process of being set up within the state, including the AIIMS (Mangalagiri), the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and the Petroleum and Energy Universities in Visakhapatnam.

MoUs with Andhra Pradesh

The CM expressed happiness over FICCI’s decision to enter into two MoUs for the establishment of FICCI Centre for Excellence for Grassroot Initiatives and Development in Amaravati and a National Knowledge Functional Hub at Sri Venkateswara University for sustained industry-academia engagement that will empower the engineering students in his State.
