“Our goal is to be among the top 3 states in India by 2022” CM’s Welcome Note

Despite the anticipated commotion in the form of protests for Special Status, the Republic Day celebrations concluded smoothly. CII Partnership Summit 2017 kicks off from today in Vizag, and CM N Chandrababu Naidu had drafted a special welcome note for the citizens and investors. The note reminds and accounts the wins and challenges seen by the state in the last 30 months.

Here is the detailed message from the Chief Minister.

“Welcome to Sunrise AP CII Partnership Summit on Jan 27, 28

Despite innumerable challenges, a revenue deficit, lack of infrastructure and educational institutions and a power deficit staring at the Sunrise state of Andhra Pradesh when the Telugu Desam Party formed the government in June 2014, Andhra Pradesh has come a long way in the last 30 months.

Starting off with a power deficit of 22 million units per day in June 2014, we have turned around the power sector to make Andhra Pradesh a power-surplus state.

From achieving 100% electrification of households to leading the way in energy efficiency and conservation initiatives in India, our government has been able to transform the power sector in the state with a focussed and result-oriented approach. The assistance from the Union Minister of Power has been valuable through the “Power For All” programme.

Currently, our government has also set a target to bring down the T&D losses in the state to 9% within this fiscal which will help us save Rs. 1,500 crore every year.

In the Industries sector, the single-desk portal for clearances has not only put us on the top spot in the Ease of Doing Business rankings in India with a score of 98.78%, but also has won us laurels for the state with best infrastructure (State of the States Awards from the India Today Group). AP stood second last year and resolved to work to top the list.

We are also leading in the development of solar parks in the country. Our current installed capacity is 850 MW and in the next four years, the expected capacity addition in solar is 5,000MW and in wind energy, it is 5258 MW.
Apart from these, I have also lead delegations to countries such as Singapore, Japan, Kazakhstan, China, UK, Davos (World Economic Forum) to attract investments to Andhra Pradesh in various sectors. In the last 2.5 years, over 300 projects worth Rs 3.31 lakh-crore have been identified. While land has been allotted for 55 projects, 253 are in advanced stages.

Many investors are also keen on investing in agriculture, renewable energy, food and agro-processing, marine industry, textiles, tourism, hospitality, healthcare, financial services, electronics manufacturing and other sectors.

Our government believes that participation of the people of Andhra Pradesh is central to the development of the state. That is how initiated the novel concept of land pooling, appealing to land owners and farmers to voluntarily donate their lands for the People’s Capital for Amaravati. This experiment succeeded as a participatory model of development and reiterated people’s desire for a world-class Capital city.

To solve the water woes of the parched Rayalaseema region and provide water to the farmers of Krishna Delta, we took up the historic linking of Krishna and Godavari rivers through the Pattiseema Life Irrigation Scheme, making it operational within a span of 6 months. Further, by taking the centre into confidence, we have also began the construction of the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project which will be completed by 2018.

With a strong resolve and dedication, we are working to incorporate technology into everything we do. One of the outcomes of our efforts is the CM CORE Dashboard which provides real-time data of various government schemes. From tracking of street lights to the day’s drinking water levels and pensions disbursal, the CM Dashboard gives you insights into every detail using IoT. This has also won applause from the World Economic Forum 2017.

In these 30 months, we have come a long way. There is no looking back from here. Our goal is to be among the top 3 states in India by 2022; be the best state with high happiness index in 2029 and be the most preferred investment destination by 2050.

You are invited to be a part of the Sunrise AP CII Partnership Summit 2017 on January 27th & 28th at Visakhapatnam. I welcome you to invest in Andhra Pradesh and make it your investment destination.”
