On 20th June, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took part in an Iftar program that was hosted by Jaleel Khan, the MLA from Vijayawada West.
On the occasion, the CM said that the state government is planning to establish Muslim residential schools and will allocate a budget of INR 100 crores to operate these.
He said that plans are also on for the construction of Haj houses in Kadapa and Vijayawada. He added that soon funds would also be allocated for the renovation of various mosques as well as construction of wedding halls aka Shaadikhana.
He announced that a special budget of INR 840 crores has been allotted for the Muslims and that the government would also offer an amount of INR 50000 as a wedding gift to Muslim girls hailing from poor families.
Furthermore, the CM released an amount of INR 5 lakh for Nazia Sultana’s cancer treatment.
While addressing the gathering at the Iftar party he said that fasting during the season of Ramzan was really a sacred ritual which is why his government will soon start offering treat Iftar treats in all the districts of the state. He added that this would be the first time in the history of the country that a state government would offer Iftar tohfa.
On the occasion, Jaleel Khan praised the hard work that CBN has been putting in for the development of the state. He added that the CM has kept his word to the public who voted for him. He went on to say that the Muslim community is so happy under CBN’s rule that they are all set to bring him into power many more times. He requested that since 12% of the state population comprises of Muslims, the CM should ensure that his promise of building Haj houses in Vijayawada is fulfilled.
