Diwali this year is going to be special and cause driven in Andhra Pradesh. While the rest of the world will be busy doing the great Diwali shopping and indulging in family dos, most parts of the state are planning on something more noble and society oriented. Deepavali, the festival of lights is going to literally lit up many homes in AP this year.
While most parts of the state have decided to go noise free and pollution free, some cities are also busy doing events that are socially driven. For example, Rajahmundry has come up with an interesting concept called ‘Wall of Happiness’, where people can hand over old clothes or new ones that will in turn be distributed to the poor. The event that has been conceptualized by the Revenue department and Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation will make a difference in many lives, literally shedding light in darkness.
Eco friendly is the buzz word in AP. Vijayawada is all geared up to welcome the festival in the most environment friendly manner. Most residents are opting for a pollution free Diwali, which means little or no firecrackers. AP Pollution Control Board is also organizing a Kala Jatara, which will have a team of folk artists who will perform songs and plays that convey the message of protecting the environment this festival.
Vizag as such is also coming up with several programs that promote noise free Diwali along with meaningful social drives to give back to the society. Nellore and other parts of Kadapa are also active in the one, gearing up for a peaceful and happy festival.
Overall, AP as a state will set an example of sorts this Diwali, inspiring the rest of the states.
