AP State Govt is trying to adopt any and all kinds of productive strategies possible with respect to the Bhogapuram Airport scenario. As per the latest update, the government is going for a two way strategy that enables both the land acquisition process as well as construction process to settle in smooth. Plans are on to come up with green field, state of the art international airport that will be positioned between Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam.
There are several factors that are being weighed and considered in the matter, jurisdiction for one. The expanse suggested for airport falls into Vizianagaram district. Acquisition of the land had become increasingly difficult for the state govt, which is now contemplating on paying a hefty price that can be anywhere between Rs 25 Lakh and Rs 33 Lakh.
The planned compensation to acquire this land for airport will also be the highest that has been ever paid in the history of Andhra Pradesh.
There are constant roadblocks with respect to touch basing and paper work. The revenue officials are working round the week, interacting with the farmers hailing from the vicinity that includes villages like Kancheru, Kavulavada and Gudepuvalasa.
The Back up Alternative
There is also a second alternative being looked at, to speed up the proceedings. The government will acquire only 2,000 acres, as against the actual 5,312 acres required for building of the airport. This way, phase 1 execution will take an immediate footing.
Going by the senior officials, it would be easy to complete acquisition in phase-1 since only 2,000 acres will be required for the same. Out of this, 480 acres still belongs to the government. There is a positive response felt from the farmers too, as they are assured of a decent package as per the new amended Act.
