Citing the growth rate of a measly 2% in the urban areas, the basic infrastructure of the cities and towns of AP will soon be improved, what with the government all set to hire external agencies for the purpose.
On 31st May, a meeting was held to discuss the urban development policy of the state. Among the ministers who attended this meeting were K Atchannaidu, the state transport minister, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, the state finance minister, Pithani Sathyanarayana, the labor welfare minister and Dr P Narayana, the municipal administration minister. After the meeting, the finance minister revealed that all the development activities which will also include a fully fledged housing program will be handled by Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTIDCO).
He said that an integrated model will be followed when carrying out the development process in the urban areas. He added that the citizens, especially the ones from the rural areas should not feel stressed due to the developmental activities. He stated that the basic infrastructure in the urban areas should be built in such a way that there is uniform expansion across all parts of the town. He confessed that the government is trying to emphasize on enhancing industrialization and improving the basic infrastructure of the urban areas.
