On 12th June, Bhoomi Puja was performed for commencing the work of the most awaited Benz Circle Flyover. At the occasion, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that the foundation stone to widen the Vijayawada – Machilipatnam raod was laid by AP Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu last year, during the month of November. He added that the plan of the Benz Circle flyover is a part of this road widening project.
He further stated that the government aims to get the work of the Kanaka Durga Flyover completed by this December and that of Benz Circle Flyover by 2018.
According to Kesineni Srinivas, the Vijayawada MP, this flyover which spans across 1.47km has been designed, keeping in mind the traffic requirements of the city. With an estimated budget of INR 220 crores, the project will be completed in two phases.
The MP said that in the past three years, a whopping amount of INR 4000 crores has been spent on different developmental projects in the city. He added that the opening of Benz circle flyover and Kanaka Durga flyover will resolve a lot of the traffic problems that mar the city.
According to Gadde Rammohan, the MLA from Vijayawada (East), Benz Circle flyover would actually become the gateway to the new capital city of Amaravati.
