Vishwanathan Anand – the name is synonymous with India’s pride. Unbeatable chess grandmaster and world champion, Anand has been consistently retaining his position as India’s number one chess master for over 30 years. Anand had beaten the world’s greats to their best game. And now, it’s time for Anand to make some space. For the first time ever, an Andhra boy is all set to surpass the legend.

Harikrishna Pendyala, a boy from Andhra had recently broken Anand’s record. Simple lad from Guntur is deigning to take the place of India’s number one. A junior to Anand by many years, it would be interesting to note that Harikrishna’s age sums up to Anand’s total chess experience!

Harikrishna, who has been consistently maintaining his position at rank two in the list has now taken over the top spot. Anand’s ratings stood at 2763 points a while ago. And Harikrishna led by 0.3!
