Post the amendments made to the Act that allowed the authorities the right to offer a government cadre to renowned Badminton player PV Sindhu, she will soon become a Deputy Collector in the state. It is believed that once ESL Narasimhan, the state governor approves the amendment it will take only a couple of weeks’ time for Sindhu to get the appointment order.
Owing to her commendable performance in the Rio Olympics, she was not only offered a government job but also a residential plot of 1000 square yards in Amaravati and a cash prize of INR 3 crores. Presently, working as the Deputy Manager in BPCL, she is a resident of Hyderabad and is being trained by Pullella Gopichand.
While announcing the amendments to the Public Services Commission Act of the state, which was instrumental in Sindhu’s appointment, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the earlier governments had completely neglected sports. However, his government will strive hard to make a difference and encourage sporting talent in the state. He added that Sindhu had proved her mettle in Olympics which is why his government is trying to honor her by offering her the post of Deputy Collector in the state. Pullela Gopichand has also received 10 acres of land from the state government to build a Badminton Academy.
Sindhu’s mother Vijaya revealed that though both AP and Telangana offered her similar jobs in the government, Sindhu will be taking the job offered by Andhra Pradesh. Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao awarded Sindhu with INR 5 crores on her return from Rio. She also secured 1000 square yards of land in the posh area of Shaikpet in Telangana about a fortnight ago.
The YSR Congress Party criticized the government for overlooking problems faced by the farmers and instead spending it on making amendments to the act in order to accommodate PV Sindhu.
