“Dreams is not what you see in sleep..is the thing which doesn’t let you sleep” – APJ Abdul Kalam
The entire nation went silent tonight. One of its most shining stars, suddenly breathed his last. The man who made minds think agile, the brain that executed scientific missile projects, the teacher who mentored tens of thousands of students to the path of achievement.
A P J Abdul Kalam. a visionary who rose to become the pride of India. An insightful scientist, a visionary – Kalam ji also served as the 11th President of India. Known as the Missile Man of India, Kalam ji’s work was exceptional in the areas of development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. He was recognized as an inspiring teacher and mentor above all his other contributions for the benefit of the country. It is but an irony that 83 year old Abdul Kalam passed away while giving a guest lecture at IIM Shillong today (27 July 2015). The day marks the end of a great mind talking any more with millions of students. The day marks the silent observance of grief to have lost the ultimate visionary of India.
Abdul Kalam Ji gave away his entire life for the betterment of Nation. His dedication in the field of science to make the country a technology driven one is unparalleled. Abdul Kalam had a keen ear for the ideas of young children. He believed in constant innovation. His visits to various schools and colleges have always witnessed him listening more to the young minds than deliver a speech. APJ believed in the new generation and their commendable ideas that were sometimes ground breaking.
It remains to be seen as to how many of young minds will actively work towards making his dream turn into a bright reality.
Interestingly, Late Abdul Kalam Ji’s one of the areas for country’s core competence also forms the main area for the state of Andhra Pradesh – Agriculture and Food Processing.
The other areas identified by Honorable APJ for an integrated action are – Education and healthcare, Information and Communication Technology, Infrastructure and Self reliance in critical technologies.
